As we look back on two decades of dedication and commitment to positive change, we are reminded of the countless lives transformed and communities empowered through our initiatives.
Over the past 20 years, our mission has been driven by a single goal: to create pathways to success and well-being for individuals and communities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our journey has been marked by numerous impactful programs and initiatives, each designed to address specific needs and foster lasting change.
Transforming Lives Through Workforce Development
One of our flagship programs, Training Grounds to Work, has made a significant impact on more than 1,800 job seekers. By providing comprehensive workforce development training, we have equipped individuals with the skills and opportunities needed to secure meaningful employment and build brighter futures.
Creating Safe Spaces for Youth
Our L.O.V.E. After School and Summer Drop-In Programs have offered safe and engaging environments for youth to learn, grow, and thrive. These programs have been instrumental in fostering personal development and community engagement among young people.
Empowerment Through Weekly Sessions
Transformational Thursdays have become a cornerstone of our community outreach, offering weekly empowerment sessions that inspire, motivate, and provide essential resources to those in need.
Leadership Through Sports
The Biz-N-Hoops program has provided a unique blend of leadership and sports, offering a late-night basketball league that unites and enriches the lives of youth in Wards 5, 7 & 8. Over eight seasons, this program has created a safe and supportive space for young athletes to develop both on and off the court.
Educational Campaigns and Community Engagement
Our Public Education Campaigns have delivered relevant and valuable information to residents through customized and responsive initiatives. By addressing critical social issues, we have empowered community members to make informed decisions and take action.
Fostering Personal Growth
ManUp! Retreats have provided transformative experiences for young men, helping them build strong foundations for their futures. These retreats have been pivotal in fostering personal growth and development.
Promoting Peace and Safety
Through our Violence Prevention and Intervention Initiatives, we have worked tirelessly to interrupt cycles of violence in priority areas. From the development and implementation of Violence Interruption Services to the District of Columbia to programs like Operation Safe Weekends and Rolling for Peace have offered cultural experiences and public safety tours, promoting unity and safety in communities impacted by gun violence.
Mental Health and Wellness
Our focus on The Trauma Recovery and Community Engagement Program provided critical mental health and wellness support to trauma survivors, fostered a healing inside of neighborhoods plagued by gun violence
Career Exploration for Youth
Our Career Exploration Programs have exposed young people to both traditional and nontraditional career pathways through workshops, camps, and events. These initiatives have broadened horizons and inspired the next generation of leaders.
Community Empowerment Events
Live In Peace Forums and Symposium and Peace Jams have blended community conversations, live entertainment, and valuable resources, promoting unity and empowerment. Friendly Fridays have dedicated days to spreading love and kindness, fostering a sense of community and connection.
